Financial Assistance For Your PSW Career
The Ontario government is providing financial assistance to help train Personal Support Workers. Eligible students in private career colleges can receive up to $13,235 to cover the costs of tuition, books and other mandatory fees, as well as a stipend for a clinical work placement.
This financial support may be available to new students enrolled in a PSW program at one of the participating Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) approved private career colleges.

The PSW certificate program is designed to teach you how to effectively provide care and assistance to clients and families in order to live fulfilling lives in their communities and in institutions. As a student of this program, you will develop a broad range of abilities emphasizing value, sensitivity and respect for the individuality of each client. You will also have the opportunity to participate in cross disciplinary and/or inter-professional learning opportunities with other members of the care and service team such as a Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse or Social Service Workers. You will play a vital role in providing care and companionship for individuals and families during periods of incapacitation, convalescence, or family disruption.

The Ontario government is providing $86 million to help train up to 8,000 personal support workers (PSWs). This investment is part of the government’s Long-Term Care Staffing Plan and is yet another way the province is collaborating with key partners to improve the care and quality of life of people living in long-term care.
